- Paywalls, logins, members-only areas or DRM-protected streams — NoBsDL never signs in to other sites
- Channel, search-results or homepage links — one video link is needed
- Videos the site no longer serves (deleted, expired, made private)
- Sites that actively block this kind of access
How format detection works
There's no hand-picked list of "approved" sites. The page uses yt-dlp, an open-source extraction engine that recognises the page structure and video delivery of a very wide range of video sites. It inspects the specific link you paste, works out which video and audio streams the site serves, and lists exactly those — nothing is guessed or filled in.
That's also why results differ from site to site: some serve several resolutions plus a separate audio track, others serve a single combined file, and some block automated access completely.
When a site doesn't say which resolution it serves, you get a single Original quality choice — the file exactly as the site delivers it, within the same file-size limits.

Does this work with every video site?
No. It works with the sites its extraction engine recognises, and some sites actively block this kind of access. If a link fails here and the platform has its own NoBsDL page, use that page.
What's the file-size limit?
Free limits depend on the output type: video downloads are generally limited to 500MB, while free MP3 output is limited to 100MB. Supporters can use downloads up to 2GB where available.
Why does it say "Could not read this link"?
The site may not be supported, or that video may need a login. Check whether the platform has a dedicated NoBsDL page — it may handle the case better.
Why do no formats appear?
The page loaded, but the video itself may be geo-restricted, removed, or embedded in a way this tool can't read directly.
Why is there a video option but no MP3?
Some sites serve one file with video and audio already combined instead of separate streams, and some media has no sound at all. The page only lists what the source really provides.
It works on the site but not from an embedded player. Why?
Paste the source site's own video page, not an embed shown on a third-party site. Embeds often hide or restrict the information the tool needs.
