How to download an Instagram Reel

Supported inputs and outputs
Paste a public Reel link (instagram.com/reel/CODE), a video post link (instagram.com/p/CODE), or a TV/video link (instagram.com/tv/CODE) — all three are treated the same way. Photo-only carousels have no video track to extract, so pasting one produces no video output.

Checked 2026-10-25 with yt-dlp, the open-source extractor NoBsDL runs on, and NoBsDL's own format code. Platforms change what they serve, so a different post can look different.
Instagram limits
Free downloads: MP4 up to 1080p and 500MB, MP3 up to 100MB. Supporter access raises both to 2GB.
Both Reels we checked topped out at 720p, inside the free resolution limit. NoBsDL does not upscale, so a 720p Reel stays 720p.
When Instagram returns nothing

Does this work for regular posts, or only Reels?
Both. Reel links (instagram.com/reel/...), video post links (instagram.com/p/...) and instagram.com/tv/... links go through the same steps. A post with only photos has no video to download.
What audio quality do I get?
When the Reel has a sound track, the page offers 128, 256, and 320 kbps MP3. Instagram's own audio was about 131 kbps AAC on the Reel we checked, so 320 kbps makes a bigger file but cannot add detail that was not there.
Can I download from a private account?
No. Content from private accounts needs a logged-in follower session, which NoBsDL does not use. Only public posts can be processed.
Can I download Instagram Stories?
No. Stories and Story highlights are delivered differently from Reels and feed posts and are not supported by this page.
Why is the resolution lower than the original upload?
Instagram decides which sizes it serves. Both Reels we checked stopped at 720×1280. NoBsDL downloads exactly the stream you pick and does not upscale it.
Why does my Reel have no sound?
Some Reels come with no audio track at all; one of the two we checked had none. When Instagram sends no sound, the MP4 is silent and no MP3 option is shown.
