How to download a YouTube Shorts video
- Copy the linkOpen the Short and tap Share → Copy link, or copy the address bar URL on desktop.

Supported inputs and outputs
Paste a link that looks like youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID, copied from the app's Share sheet or the browser address bar. A regular youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID link to the same video works too — Shorts and standard videos go through the same YouTube pipeline, so either form of the link resolves to the same file.

What a Shorts download contains
We ran a public 40-second Short (1080×1920) through NoBsDL's YouTube format code.

YouTube offered this Short from 144p to 1080p, most sizes in H.264, VP9 and AV1, with AAC sound at about 130 kbps that NoBsDL joined into each MP4. Sizes come from YouTube's own data, not guesses. If the 608p file will not open on an older phone or player, pick 720p or 1080p, which use H.264. More on this in why a downloaded video won't play.
Checked 2026-10-25 with yt-dlp, the open-source extractor NoBsDL runs on, and NoBsDL's own format code. Platforms change what they serve, so a different post can look different.
Shorts limits
Shorts follow the YouTube rules: free MP4 up to 1440p and 500MB, MP3 up to 100MB. Supporter access raises both to 2GB. Prepared Shorts are deleted from NoBsDL's server automatically, normally within about an hour.
A Short is measured by its short side, so 1080×1920 counts as 1080p. Every size of the Short above was free.
When a Short won't load

What link format does this need?
A link to one specific Short, such as youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID, copied from the Share button in the YouTube app or from your browser's address bar. A regular watch?v= link to the same video works too.
Can I download all of a creator's Shorts at once?
No. A channel's Shorts tab is treated as a channel page, not a single video. Paste one Short's own link at a time.
Does this add or remove any watermark?
No. NoBsDL does not edit the video. It saves the same stream YouTube plays, so the file looks like the Short in the YouTube app.
Can I get just the audio from a Short?
Yes. MP3 options at 128, 256 and 320 kbps appear next to the MP4 options after you extract the link.
Why is there a 608p option?
Some Shorts have a 608×1080 size that YouTube offers only in VP9 or AV1. It is the smallest file, but some older devices cannot play AV1; pick 720p or 1080p for H.264.
