Why Facebook links fail more often than other platforms
Facebook's sharing links often route through a redirect before landing on the real video page, and that page's privacy setting is what determines whether extraction can work — regardless of how public the link looks. A link that "works" in the Facebook app (where you're already logged in) can still fail here if the underlying post requires a login to view.
Facebook limits
Free downloads: MP4 up to 1080p and 500MB, MP3 up to 100MB. Supporter access raises both to 2GB. After the download, NoBsDL's copy is deleted from its server automatically, normally within about an hour.
At the 1080p bitrate of the video we checked (about 1.9 Mbit/s with sound), 500MB holds roughly 36 minutes. Longer 1080p videos need Supporter access or a smaller size.
What a Facebook download contains
| What we found | |
|---|---|
| First public video | Failed inside yt-dlp with a page-parsing error. Facebook changes its pages often, and some public videos fail until the extractor is updated |
| Second public video | A 44-second square video: VP9 picture in four sizes (360×360 to 1080×1080), a separate HE-AAC sound track, plus "sd" and "hd" files with no size information |
| What NoBsDL lists | One MP4 choice per picture size, labelled by the short side: "1080p MP4 · 1080x1080". You download exactly that stream, joined with the best sound track |
| Videos with no size data | When a video only comes as the unsized "sd"/"hd" files, NoBsDL offers it once as "Original quality" |
| Playback | VP9 inside MP4 plays in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and VLC. If an older player shows a black screen, see why a downloaded video won't play |
Checked 2026-10-25 with yt-dlp, the open-source extractor NoBsDL runs on, and NoBsDL's own format code. Platforms change what they serve, so a different post can look different.

| You pasted a Facebook login URL. Please paste a direct public Facebook video/reel URL. | The copied address was Facebook's login page, not the video. Open the video and copy its own facebook.com address. |
| This link doesn't have a downloadable video or audio attached. Double-check the link points to an actual media post. | The post has no video, or the link points to a page or profile. |

Facebook downloader FAQ
What Facebook links work?
Direct facebook.com links to accessible public video posts, Watch videos, Reels, and individual public Group posts can work. Short fb.watch redirect links are not accepted; use the final facebook.com video URL.
What video quality can I get?
The page lists each picture size Facebook reports for that post, up to 1080p for free. You download exactly the stream you pick, joined with the sound track.
Can I download videos from a Facebook Group?
Only if the group and the specific post are public and viewable without logging in. Closed or private group videos cannot be processed.
Does a Facebook Reel link work here?
Yes. facebook.com/reel/ links are handled like a regular public video post link.
Why does the link work in the Facebook app but fail here?
The app shows the video because you are logged in on that device. NoBsDL has no Facebook login, so the post's privacy setting must be Public.
Why does my Facebook download show a black screen?
Facebook often stores video as VP9. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and VLC play it; some older players and editing apps do not. Try VLC, or see why a downloaded video won't play.
Need larger downloads or priority access? Supporters get up to 2GB downloads and a dedicated processing lane.
