X (Twitter) · MP4 & MP3
X Video Downloader
Save a video or GIF from a post on X as MP4, with MP3 options when the post has an audio track. Works with x.com and twitter.com links alike.
- X GIFs saved as MP4
- No login required
- x.com & twitter.com both work
- Files deleted after about an hour
How to download an X video
- Copy the linkCopy the post link from the Share icon or your browser's address bar.
- Paste it aboveUse the Paste button, then select Extract Formats.
- Choose MP4 or an MP3 bitrateIf audio is available. The file downloads directly to your device.
Where the saved file ends up depends on your device. See the iPhone, Android or PC and Mac guide.
Supported inputs and outputs
Paste a public post link containing video or GIF media, from either x.com/USER/status/ID, the older twitter.com/USER/status/ID format, or the mobile mobile.twitter.com variant — all resolve to the same post and work identically here. A quote-post or retweet link works too, as long as it's the video-carrying post itself, not a reply that only mentions it.
Works
- x.com and twitter.com status links, and mobile.twitter.com
- Animated GIFs on X — silent MP4 video under the hood
- MP3 at 128, 256, or 320 kbps, where the post has audio
Doesn't work
- Posts from protected (private) accounts
- Direct-message media of any kind
- Spaces (live audio rooms) — post-attached video/GIF only
- Deleted or suspended-account posts
What an X download contains
| What we found | |
|---|---|
| First public post | Failed inside yt-dlp: X's video-card server returned an error. Some older posts no longer play outside X |
| Second public post | Three ready MP4 files at 320×180, 640×360 and 1280×720 (320, 832 and 2,176 kbps), each with picture and sound in one file, plus an HLS stream of the 720p version |
| What NoBsDL lists | One MP4 choice per size, labelled by the short side: "720p MP4 · 1280x720". For 720p it uses the ready MP4 file |
| Quality | X serves its own re-encoded copies, not the original upload. NoBsDL downloads the copy X serves and cannot add detail X does not provide |
Checked 2026-10-25 with yt-dlp, the open-source extractor NoBsDL runs on, and NoBsDL's own format code. Platforms change what they serve, so a different post can look different.
X limits
Free downloads: MP4 up to 1080p and 500MB, MP3 up to 100MB. Supporter access raises both to 2GB. The copy NoBsDL prepares is removed from its server automatically, normally within about an hour.
At 2,176 kbps, the 720p copy of the post we checked used about 16 MB per minute, so 500MB holds about half an hour of video at that quality.
When X shows no video
| Message you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| X didn't show a video for this post. X hides some videos (often sensitive content) from viewers who aren't logged in, and NoBsDL can't access those. | X hid the video from logged-out visitors, or the post has no video. NoBsDL has no X login |
If a t.co short link fails, open it and paste the post's own x.com/USER/status/ID address. For other errors, see the link not downloading guide.

X downloader FAQ
Does this work with both x.com and twitter.com links?
Yes. Both domains point at the same posts and are handled the same way. Paste whichever address your browser shows.
Does this work for animated GIFs posted on X?
Yes. X stores GIFs as silent MP4 video, so they download like a regular video post, without sound.
Can I download from a protected (private) account?
No. Only posts from public accounts can be processed. Protected posts need a logged-in, approved-follower session, which NoBsDL does not use.
Is this affiliated with X or Twitter?
No. NoBsDL is an independent tool with no partnership with X Corp. The names are used only to describe the platform.
Why does the video look worse than on the X app?
X re-encodes uploads and serves a few fixed sizes. On the post we checked the largest was 1280×720. NoBsDL downloads what X serves and cannot add quality.
Need larger downloads or priority access? Supporters get up to 2GB downloads and a dedicated processing lane.
